Homework Tips for Parents:
- Show you think education is important. Create a place and time for homework. When they have projects, break it up into smaller pieces, develop a timeline and don't procrastinate.
- Check it. Do they know what they are supposed to do? Did they do what was expected?
- Provide guidance, but do not do the work for them. Third graders should be working independently.
- Combine subjects when possible. For example, have them type their writing assignments on the computer - they need to practice keyboarding.
- Talk with the teacher whenever problems arise. When tears come out it is time to seek help.
- Evaluate. Is your child using their time wisely? Are they staying on task or get distracted easily?
